This volume seeks to vindicate the legacy of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and celebrate the two hundred years of the publication of her masterpiece, Frankenstein or the Modern Prometheus (1818). To do this, he exposes the permeability of the myth of the scientist and his creature through a series of essays that explore contemporary adaptations in various media (literature, cinema, television, video games, YouTube) that demonstrate the relevance of Frankenstein in our day. The chapters allow the reader to know the popular rewrites of the 19th century theater and their impact on the most recent cinematographic fiction; discover the influence of Shelley on other writers with an immense legacy, such as Margaret Atwood; recognize the different appropriations of myth in video games and their rewriting in new audiovisual formats; and, finally, to show how intertextuality with Shelley's novel allows enriching narratives that may seem more distant to the naked eye. This, then, is an essential volume for those interested in contemporary rewrites of myth, with special emphasis on popular culture or new creation platforms. Borham Puyal, Miriam (ed.). Frankestein revisited: the legacy of Mary Shelley's masterpiece.
